CHAMBEYRON TOWER
A ski mountaineering raid on horseback between Italy and France. We will cross the Ubaye, Val Maira, Queyras and Val Varaita.
We will stay overnight in villages where time seems to have stopped.
Here the Alps have generated a unity not only environmental but also and above all cultural where different traditions have merged and developed together.
PROGRAM:
meeting point: Cuneo railway station.
01 Day
By private minibus we will reach the Maddalena hill 1990 mt.
From le Pontet 1948 mt. skis on your feet up to col de la Gipière 2482 mt.
long traverse for the step of the Horse 2539 mt.
The climb to the M. Soubeyran 2697 mt. and the beautiful descent in Valle Maira
up to Chiappera 1614 mt. will repay the efforts for this first day.
Rise time: 3h 30.
Total difference in height: 800 mt.
Dinner and overnight stay at La Schola di Chiappera.
02 Day
From Chiappera the Maurin valley
will take us to the homonymous hill and then to the Tete du Vallonet 2822 mt.
From the top long descent into French territory a Maljasset 1905 mt.
village located at the end of the world ...
Rise time: 4 h 30.
Total difference in height: 1200 mt.
Dinner and overnight at Auberge la Cure.
03 Day
From Maljasset we will enter the heart of Ubaye up to col de la Noire 2955 mt.
Descent to ref. De la Blanche 2499 mt.
We entered the Queyras, a territory rich in history, renowned for its stone villages and its ski routes.
Rise time: 5 h.
Total difference in height: 1050 mt.
Dinner and overnight stay at De la Blanche refuge.
04Day
From the shelter in the direction with the Blanchet 2969 mt., long descent into Italy towards the Lake Bleu 2522 mt., Walloon Antolina until you get to Chianale 1790 mt., one of the most beautiful villages in Italy last destination of our journey.
Rise time: 2 h 30.
Total difference in height: 500 mt.
Return to Cuneo.
Technical Level:
- Good skiers on all the snows.
- Ski day at a good pace.
- Sometimes steep slopes.
- Good physical condition.
